Jamus SC to know CECAFA Kagame Cup opponents July 10th
South Sudan representatives Jamus SC will know their CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 opponents on July 10th when the draw is conducted in Kigali, Rwanda.
The regional body, Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) announced on Tuesday that the draw will take place at the Amahoro National Stadium Press Conference room at 10am (Rwanda time).
The tournament will take place July 24th to August 7th in Kigali, Rwanda. Newly appointed Jamus SC head coach Saber Ben Jabria will have the opportunity access players during a tournament ahead of a busy season.
The tournament will attract 12 teams with the three groups having four teams each. The top team in each group and the second best among all the three groups will qualify for the semi-final stage.
Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager says the tournament will help teams in the region prepare better for the 2026/2027 CAF comeptitions which kick off in September 2026.
Last year South Sudan was represented by Kator FC in the CECAFA Kagame Cup won by Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars FC.
The teams that will be drawn include; APR FC, Rayon Sport (Rwanda), Simba SC, Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania), Vipers SC (Uganda), Al Hilal SC, El Merriekh SC (Sudan), Gor Mahia FC (Kenya), Mogadishu City FC (Somalia), Jamus SC ( South Sudan), FC Garde Républicaine (Djibouti), and KVZ FC (Zanzibar)
South Sudan Premier League side Jamus SC have made a winning start in the on-going CECAFA Kagame Cup that entered Day 2 on Saturday.
Jamus SC scored early to defeat 2025 winners Singida Black Stars FC 2-0 in a Group B match played at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
Laurent Ramazani gave Jamus SC the lead after 10 minutes with a well taken strike after the Singida Black Stars FC defending line was caught flat footed.
Ramazani made no mistake shooting past goalkeeper Metacha Mnata. The Tanzania Premier League side tried to fight back, but Exauce Sagesse Nzaou and Mathew Tegisis failed to find the target.
After recess, the Singida Black Stars FC coach Papy Okitankoyi Kimoto made several changes, but to no avail.
Linda Mtange and Jonathan Sowah tried some shots from outside the box for Singida Black Stars FC, but failed get the balls past Jamus SC goalkeeper Majak Maling Mawith. In the 4th minute of added time substitute Mario Taban Cherelino nodded in a well taken Sabastin Teclar cross..
Jamus SC now lead Group B with three points and one goal scored, the second Group B match will be played between six time winners Simba SC (Tanzania) and Mogadishu City Club FC from Somalia.
The regional tournament kicked off on Friday with Vipers SC (Uganda) stopping Garde Republicaine FC (Djibouti) 3-0, while Gor Mahia FC (Kenya) thrashed Rwanda champions APR FC 5-0 in Group A matches played at the Amahoro Stadium.
The head coach of Jamus SC, Saber Ben Jabria has said his team is determined to make a good start in their opening match of the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026.
Jamus SC will face 2025 winners Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania) in the opening Group B match of the competition at the Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking to the media during a press conference on Friday, Ben Jabria made it clear that making a good start in a such a tournament is good because it gives the team good momentum.
“We know Singida are the defending champions, but my team has prepared well and ill be ready to play a good game,” added the coach.
Kevin Muhire, said that the Jamus SC team is here for serious business. “We are here to put up a good show and we shall start with game one,” added the Rwandan International.
The second group B match will see Tanzanian Premier League side Simba SC face Mogadishu City Club.
The regional tournament featuring 112 teams will climax on August 7th. The winners will pocket US$30,000, the runners-up US420,000 and the third placed team US$10,000.
Jamus SC has stepped up preparations ahead of the regional CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The team currently camped in Kiyovu in Rwanda has already played two friendly matches losing 4-3 to Rayon Sports and drawing 2-2 against Future Generation FC.
Jamus SC, the South Sudan representatives are now preparing ahead of their July 25th opening Group B match against Cup holders Singida Black Stars FC from Tanzania.
The next match in line will be against six time winners Simba SC (Tanzania) on July 28th, while Jamus SC will take on Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club on July 31st in the last group match.
Saber Ben Jabria, Jamus SC head coach says he is preparing the team accordiningly ahead of the tournament. “We are trying to be in shape before the tournament kicks,” says Jabria.
The CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 that will run July 24th to August 7th will attract 12 teams.
The winners will pocket US$30,000, the runners-up US$20,000, and the third placed US10,000.
