It is 1939 in Elisabethville, now renamed Lubumbashi. The Benedictine missionaries who run the Saint-Boniface Institute decide to set up a football team for those of their students who devote most of their free time to scouting.

This team, its promoters named it FC Saint-Georges (Patron of the Scouts) and affiliated it directly in the first division to the Royal Federation of Indigenous Sports Associations (FRASI), where it occupied, at the end of the 1939 season, third place behind the clubs Léopold and Prince-Charles, currently FC Vijana Katuba and Lubumbashi-Sports. In 1944, the young scouts became truckers and FC St Georges was renamed Saint Paul FC. A few years later, the incorporation of certain foreign elements into the Institute led the missionaries to abandon the management of the team which took the name of FC ENGLEBERT, a tire brand, sponsor of the club.
