CECAFA President welcomes teams for Kagame Cup 2026
The President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam has welcomed all team to Kigali ahead of the start of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The regional tournament will kick off on Friday with two Group A matches taking place, while Jamus SC take to the field on Saturday against 2025 winners Singida Black Stars FC.
Andemariam said during the official press conference held on Wednesday at the Amahoro Stadium that they expect a very competitive and well organized event.
“We welcome all the 12 teams to the tournament and we promise to have high standards,” added the CECAFA President.
He also thanked the government of Rwanda under President Paul Kagame, and the leadership of the Rwanda Football Federation for making sure that this tournament returns to Rwanda since 2019.
We are confident that this is going to be the best CECAFA Kagame Cup,” added Andemariam.
He also revealed that Rwanda has already showed interest in hosting the next three editions of the tournament, citing the country’s strong infrastructure and proven hosting capacity.
Richard Mugisha, the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) Second Vice President in-charge of Development and Technical also welcomed all the foreign teams to Rwanda.
The champions will pocket US$30,000, the runners-up US$20,000, and the third placed team US$10,000.
The management of Jamus SC has announced that the team will travel for pre-season camping in the Rwandan capital Kigali.
“The team delegation of the Club will depart this coming Wednesday, June 24, 2026 for the Rwandan capital, Kigali to hold an overseas intensive training camp,” said the communication on Monday.
Led by the new head coach Saber Ben Jabria, the team will pitch camp in Kigali and also play a series of friendly matches against other teams.
Jamus SC will also use the camp to prepare ahead of the regional Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Kagame Cup.
The team will also have the opportunity to test newly recruited players. Some of the new players include; Michael Taku, Diallo Bandjouhou, Manhiak Majak Chawul, Oumar Traore, Samuel Taban, Joseph Waithira, Paul Juma, Gosim Duvan, Emmanuel Loki and Dhata Joseph Stephen among others.
The management of Jamus SC have announced plans to construct a 10,000 capacity Stadium in Luri area.
Mohannad Ahmed, the Club President made the announcement of the development on June 17th in Juba.
The Club President Mr. Mohannad Ahmed announces a historic milestone and a major developmental leap for the nation.
“The Club will welcome an official delegation from the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) within the next ten days to lay the foundation stone for the Jamus International Stadium,” said the Club.
History is being written as Jamus Sc will become the first Club to build a Stadium.
The Club explained that the project will have capacity of 10,000, four training pitches, a modern official headquarters, basketball court and a comprehensive center for a Football Academy.
The construction by a company from China is expected to take between 9 months to one year.
The management of Jamus SC has appointed Tunisian Saber Ben Jabria as the new head coach.
Jabria and the new technical staff was unveiled during an official ceremony held at the Imperial Plaza Hotel in Juba on Tuesday.
The Club announced that Jabria has signed a two year contract, and Nicolas Peter will be the assistant coach.
The press conference was attended by the president of the club Mohanad Ahmed and members of the executive.
The club emphasized that selecting Jabria and Nicolas Peter as his assistant, is part of a long-term strategic plan aimed at building a formidable team capable of competing strongly in both local and regional championships, especially ahead of the club’s upcoming continental commitments.
“I am happy about this appointment and I will work hard together with the team to ensure we achieve the set targets,” said the newly appointed coach.
Jabria will have his first serious assignment when he leads Jamus SC at the CECAFA Kagame Cup to take place in Rwanda next month.
Last season Jamus SC finished second in the South Sudan Premier League.
